In January 2026 it was ten years since the first CAVEtalk meeting.
CAVEtalk is an international, monthly peer support and supervision space for people working with voice-hearers, grounded in compassionate and creative approaches.
To mark the anniversary, we (Rufus May, Elisabeth Svanholmer and Charlie Heriot-Maitland) sat down for a recorded three-way conversation, reflecting on how the group began, how it has evolved, and what we’ve learned along the way.
In the conversation, we revisit the original spark that led to CAVEtalk, share what has surprised us most over the past decade, and reflect on where compassion has made the biggest difference – both in our work with voices and in the supervision space itself.
We also look ahead, sharing our hopes for the next ten years, and end with some more personal reflections, including what “caves” evoke for us as a metaphor for this work.
This recording is offered in the spirit of CAVEtalk itself: informal, reflective, relational, and shaped by curiosity rather than conclusions. We hope it offers something useful to others working with voice-hearers and those interested in compassionate, creative ways of understanding difficult experiences.
